Part one of Fuzz, a great documentary about fuzzboxes, stomp pedals and the people who make them (the other seven parts are in the related feature section). Featuring the work of boutique pedal makers like Death by Audio and Robert Keely, with interviews from Wolfmother, Jon Spencer, Pete Frampton and others, Fuzz is a fascinating insight into a closed world with lots of meaty facts for guitar nerds.
Unfortunately, the best book about building guitar pedals, effects and other musical projects, Electronic Projects for Musicians, is considerably out of date. Fortunately, there’s lots of advice on the web for those who want to build their own boutique guitar pedal or clone a classic.
